Simplicity and patience is the key to grilling steaks. I like to coat the steaks with a little olive oil, salt and pepper, and that's it. A good hot fire with direct heat is also key. For the 6-oz. filet mignon it will take about 6 to 8 minutes per side to get to medium rare. If you like it closer to the medium well side, you might want to move the steaks off of the direct heat so they doesn't get too charred. Two more good tips for grilling steaks: Don't move the steaks around too much, or you can lose precious juices. Also, once you take the steaks off of the grill, let them rest for a few minutes before cutting into them. This will also help to keep the juices in.
